The government has already started the dry run of the COVID-19 Vaccination at most of the states. With the move to vaccination of country peoples, DCGI (Drug Controler and General of India) has approved Oxfard's Covid'19 vaccine Covishield and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin for restricted emergency use. Union Health Minister Sh. Harsh Vardhan Singh recently announced for first phase vaccination of the priority group which includes Health Care and Frontline Workers. Who will get the Corona Vaccine first in India?

On 2nd January 2021, Mr. Harsh Vardhan, The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare tweet some information from his Twitter handle, according to which, "In 1st Phase of COVID-19 Vaccination free Vaccine shall be provided across the nation to the most prioritized beneficiaries that include 1 crore Health Care & 2 Crore Frontline Workers. Details of how further 27 Crore priority beneficiaries are to be vaccinated until July 2021 are being finalized."

Health Care Workers- As per the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19, they include both government and private hospital workers. All the data of these persons have already been collected from the health care facilities, which is now being uploaded into the CoWIN app -a Digital Platform to be used for equitable vaccine distribution. They are 1 Crore in number (approx).






The priority group has been further divided into subcategories as frontline workers, which include Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), nurses and supervisors, paramedical staff, medical officers, supporting staff, and medical students.



Frontline Workers- This includes frontline workers employed with central and state police services, armed forces, civil defense organization, disaster management, home guard, prison staff, municipal workers, revenue officials working with Covid-19 surveillance, and other associated activities.




Workers associated with state government and ministry of defense, urban affairs, housing will also receive the vaccination in the first phase.
